Demi Lovato - Skyscraper

In Demi Lovato's 'Skyscraper' music video, she is the star of it. It only features her and she's shown as emotional an the video has an overall 'raw' feeling. Medium close ups and extreme closeups are used as well as long shots and panning. The screen cuts quickly between shots and Demi is often filmed looking into the lense as if looking rigt at the viewer/audeince. The video starts with a long track and Demi stoo at the end of it. It's a high angle shot that transititions into a low angle shot with Demi still walking down the track. She's wearing a long white dress which signifies purity and innocence. There's a bright un shining in the background. It then cuts to a close up on Demi's face. She's staring down the camera looking very upset. It stays on her face for a wile and it cross-cuts from her singing to an image of a heart in a glass bo. It stands alone which portrays the emptiness and loneliness she's feeling. It again then cuts to Demi singing. Throughout the video, it features cross-cutting and a range of shots are used, mainly long shots and close ups on Demi. The audience can clearly see that this is an emotional video and Demi is putting herself out there and letting everyone know how she's feeling.

Gabrielle Aplin - Please Don't Say You Love Me

In Gabrielle Aplin's music video for 'Please Don't Say You Love Me', it's a story. It has an equilibrium and it follows Todorov's narrative structure. It starts off with Gabrielle and a boy, who we assume is her boyfriend, in a car driving somewhere. He's in the driving seat whilst she's sat in the passenger seat reading a book. The car starts to judder and then comes to a stop with smoke pouring out of the bonnet. During this video, there is cross-cutting from their story, to Gabrielle standing in a lane looking into and around the lens. The story continues to them having a fall out, another boy hitting on her and her walking away. She finds her boyfriend sleeping in his car and she climbs across him, through the window, to fall asleep next to him. The video ends with her in the driving seat and him waking up in the passenger seat. Long shots, medium close ups and close ups are used throughout this video. A range of editing techniques are also used in this music video.
